His music career began in the 80’s, while he was attending medical school. Naumov quickly became one of the brightest figures of the USSR rock scene and gained recognition as the pioneer of Russian blues. The New Yorker Magazine (eventually he moved overseas) called him a one-man orchestra for his unique style and sound.

In addition to contributing to three of Sklyar’s albums, in 2007 the pair collaborated to produce “Gorod X” (“City X”).

There's also been a couple of minor, but nevertheless important, tweaks to the site. First of all, all Kroogi timestapmps will now reflect your local time. If you do not already see the correct time, you can make all the necessary adjustments manually in your account settings. Secondly, Kroogi "likes" became more responsive to changing opinions: if you "like" something, you can later withdraw your praise.

In April 2011, Evegeny Fyodorov, former frontman of the well loved and greatly missed band, Tequillajazzz, launched the campaign to raise funds for his new group's album. By June 30th, 2011 the band collected $10,000, which accounted for 100% of the required amount.

Even before its successful completion, Zorge's campaign had been nominated for a "2011 Steppenwolf" Award The winners will be announced today.

Zorge's frontman, Yevgeny Fyodorov, thanks the fans for their support and promises to make the album available on Kroogi on a pay-what-you-want basis. The group is recording with Andrei Alyakrinskii, the acclaimed sound producer known as the "Golden Ears of St. Petersburg," at the "Dobrolet" studio. The first three tracks are already available for download.

Ever since Kroogi's launch and up until recently, we've been using the services of contract web designers. They would come up with design changes, we would implement them, and, while everyone would be generally satisfied with the improvements, we would also feel like something is missing.

The exception was the design update released last February, when the site colors changed from gray and orange to light purple. These changes ultimately faced the same fate – my initial feeling of satisfaction was slowly replaced with discontent.

After a discussion with the Kroogi team, we’ve decided to update our design one more time - the changes were released today.

This time we did things a little differently:

1. The Kroogi community, like any living organism, has it’s own appetites, habits, and desires - we took that into consideration and changed the site as YOU see fit. All improvements in the site’s functionality are based solely on the proposals made by Kroogi users and guests. The changes you see today were suggested by you.

2. All changes in the site’s design reflect only the style preferences of the Kroogi team. When it comes to taste, opinions are countless, but we’ve decided to implement the design WE like. After all, this is our home and we want to enjoy it, too. :)

So here it is: our choice, our soul, our website.

The nomination in this peculiar category celebrates Zorge’s venture to record their next album with the help of their fans here on Kroogi.com.

Vasilij Shumov, with projects "Centr" ("Center") and "Soderzhanie" ("Substance," Soderzhanie), joins Zorge in the "Catalyst of the Year" category. Also, Barto ( barto) gets the "Album of the Year" nomination for their latest album, "Um, Sovest’ i Chest’" ("Intelligence, Conscience and Honor”).

"Пустые Холмы") will soon announce the location of its 2011 rally. The music festival, typically taking place in the Kaluga Region, is Russia’s Woodstock - tens of thousands of fans and hundreds of musicians from all over the country, as well as guests from abroad, gather to share in the experience of great music, master classes, improvised showrooms, and art displays.

The organizers avoid promotion through mass media in attempts to maintain the festival’s authentic, uncommercialized feel and there are no clear-cut format or headliners. Although, prominent artists like Umka, Roma VPR & Festival Vsego NaSvete, Vyhod, and Elefant will grace the stage and certainly become the highlights of this year's event.

One of the long-overdue treats of Empty Hills 2011 will be the performance of Inna Zhelannaya. Other performers will include Yulia Teunikova, Neboslov, Uphill Work, and Xenia Fedorova's jazz-punk avant-garde rock group, Kubakmaggi. Artists will also be able to share their music on the Open Stage, set aside specifically for those, who, for whatever reasons, did not register with the festival officially.

"Substance") yet, now is a good time to learn all about it directly from its organizers here on Kroogi.

Since the spring 2010 release of its debut album, the project's relevance, in the eyes of the music industry and the public, has been confirmed many times over.

In July 2010 Soderzhanie's concert presentation drew its debut album musicians and other artists, of which some were later featured on the follow-up album, "Soderzhnie 2".



To find and connect with new bands, group music sessions began to take place at the Red Gates rehearsal studio in Moscow. Most of the bands featured on "Soderzhanie 2" were selected for the release after their participation in these run-throughs.

Gradually, the jam sessions turned into showcase performances at the Under The Ground concert hall. The performances took on a distinct festival atmosphere, attracting musicians from all over Russia. Artists came to play their sets, mingle with fellow musicians and discuss prospects for cooperation with the project's producer, Vasily Shumov. In his interview with Kroogi, Shumov discusses Soderzhanie and its latest album in more detail.

The album is the result of a remix contest launched on Kroogi last March. In the foreseeable future, this will likely be the group’s last record as Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova part ways to work on their solo projects.

The 14 final tracks were chosen among hundreds of remixes, which, for the most part, were created by virtually unknown DJs and musicians. The work on the double album lasted about a year. During that time t.A.T.u. also launched an album cover art contest on Kroogi, which produced the album's front and back covers.

We'd like to thank the Kroogi users, who participated in the WMR project. You made this release possible! And one more time, congratulations to all our winners!

Unlike the majority of music albums available for download on Kroogi, WMR will not be available on a “pay what you want” basis. t.A.T.u. chose to set a minimum necessary contribution in order to support a charitable organization: all album proceeds, received on Kroogi, will go to the Give Life Foundation (Fond "Podari Zhizn", podarizhizn), which helps children with cancer.

First, our brand new embeddable music player looks better and shinier than ever. Also, now when you click the "Share on Facebook" button on any Kroogi music album page, the Kroogi music player appears on your Facebook wall, where anyone can listen, download and pay for the album.

Second, we’ve cleaned up the feed section. So, for example, now when your friends upload several items, like photos, they will be displayed together, not one by one.

Third, and most important, we have changed the "friending" process. Now all invitations to circles are reciprocated automatically upon acceptance. Meaning, if I invite you to join my friends circle, when you accept, I will be added to your friends circle automatically. Same concept applies to family circle invitations. Seems pretty logical, right? Most users are already using this principle anyway, but if you notice some changes in your circles, you'll know what happened. By the way, this change only applies to personal accounts; Kroogi projects have not been affected.

Also, from now on you are not going to receive unsolicited invitations from other users and projects. Now, circle invitations can be sent only to users who already joined your Interested (for personal accounts) or Audience (for Kroogi projects) circle on their own.

We've also worked out many other important details, but, as always, the best stuff is still ahead. Stay tuned for more news! :)

Yevgeny Fedorov, the front man of the recently disbanded Tequilajazzz, presents his new project, Zorge. The Band.

The new band was formed last September to pick up where Tequilajazzz left off. Most of Zorge’s material has been created in the recent days, although, the group’s new program also includes some of the songs from Tequilajazzz since they hold a special place in the author’s heart.

So, what's up with this new project? What's it going to be like? The band's site, http://zorgemusic.com/, has more intriguing details and clearly something unusual is going on, which is always the case with Fedorov.

Cabaret Band "Serebryanaya Svadba" ( serebryanayasvadba, "Silver Wedding" ) just released their first full-length studio album, "Serdechnaya Muskulatura" ("Heart Muscles").



"The songs featured on "Serdechnaya Muskulatura" are about the lives of people, birds, dogs, and thrown away things. But if you listen closely, all those little stories are about the human heart - fragile, but remarkably persistent and full of cherished memories and desperate hope for a miracle," said the singer and songwriter, Benka.

The album is being presented at the Moulin Rouge club in Minsk, Belarus, on January 30th and 31st.

This is partly explained by the fact that Belaya Gvardia ( belaya-gvardia) manages to walk the thin lines separating a number of music genres. Soft, graceful, and full of quiet strength, Zoya's lyrics welcome the blues with a light irresistible smile.

We are proud to present the new Kroogi project that is bound to bring some extra sunshine to these cold winter days: Svetlana Bogdanova and the charming characters of her book, "What Do the Good Bunnies Look Like," have joined our circles, adding yet another facet to our vibrant community.

The author says she draws inspiration from just about anything, be it something as mundane as her morning coffee or as moving as the search for old Moscow's vanishing essence on her strolls through the enduring city. These are the streets where Svetlana's clever sketches come to life to echo the distant voices of artists like Daniil Kharms, Boris Zakhoder and Yunna Morits.

In addition to her new book, which is available in English, Russian, French and Spanish, Bogdanova's project, ClaireBoh, features a collection of prints, a number of nursery rhymes and a fairy tale. But the spotlight is, of course, on Svetlana's main characters - the"bonlapans," a.k.a. the Good Bunnies.

Svetlana encourages you to join and participate in her project by telling her what you think bonlapans are like. Her amusing little creatures are already preparing new surprises, but their future adventures are in your hands, too!
